The Fern Partnership
About usThe Fern Partnership (formally Friends of Ferndale) is an award winning charity who works in partnership with Ferndale Community School. The objectives and ethos of the trust is to advance the education of the pupils of Ferndale Community School and enhance provision in the wider community by working in partnership with trustees, staff, governors and members of our community.
We currently manage two childcare provisions both part funded by Welsh Government Flying Start, one in Maerdy and one in Cwmparc, and completed an asset transfer of the former Maerdy Library now called The Community Hub Maerdy in 2015.
Both our childcare provisions are mixed economy providing opportunities for those families outside of Flying Start catchment areas to access quality affordable childcare.
The Community Hub provides community members with a range of services from access to IT, craft classes for children and adults and family engagement opportunities.
We also receive funding from Communities First to deliver elements of the programme in the Upper Rhondda Fach.
We believe we are a unique and innovative organisation that strives to deliver quality services for the local and wider communities in line with community need.
